Versatility Without Compromise
As with all MIDAS products versatility without compromise is a priority, that’s why the DL231 comes fi tted with MIDI (In, Out and Thru) and an Ethernet Control port, plus four AES50 ports to handle the independent dual-redundant digital audio interfaces. The DL231 is capable of being switched between 24-bit 96 kHz and 48 kHz operation. A Mute All Outputs button is provided for convenient onstage re-patching – and the DL231 is powered by dual-redundant PSUs for superb reliability.
Housed in a road-ready, rugged rack-mountable chassis, the DL231 is ideally suited for transport and storage in standard fl ight cases (not included).

Architecture and Engineering Specifications
The interface unit shall be designed for digital audio mixing applications and be optimised for use in live performance. It shall feature 24 input channels with two independent microphone preamplifiers with 2.5 dB gain steps and 24 servo-balanced electronic outputs on industry-standard XLR connectors and shall be capable of operating at 48 kHz and 96 kHz sampling rates.
The interface unit shall include a recessed switch on the rear panel to mute all outputs. The output channels shall have an option to select as their input source either the internal microphone preamplifiers or from the incoming digital audio network.
The interface unit shall support a 100 Megabit Ethernet frame-based digital audio network that shall offer dual redundancy and be compliant with the Audio Engineering Society AES50-2011 standard. Two dual redundant digital network audio interfaces with independent phase-locked loop synchronisation shall be provided that shall also be capable of independent operation at either 48 kHz or 96 kHz sample rates. One Ethernet control port and an industry-standard MIDI Interface (In, Out, Thru) shall also be provided.
The interface unit shall provide both front panel and remote network configuration of operational settings and provide an alphanumeric LCD display with associated menu navigation buttons, and LED status indication of power supply output rail condition and digital audio and control network connection status and activity.
The interface unit shall include two auto-ranging universal switch-mode power supplies with dual redundancy for use on a worldwide basis.
The interface unit shall be housed in a standard 5U 19″ rackmount chassis, and shall be 483 mm wide x 413 mm deep x 222 mm high (19.0″ x 16.3″ x 8.7″), with nominal weight 14.7 kg (32.3 lbs). The interface unit shall be installed in a rack frame or road case capable of safely supporting its weight. Input, output, and power connections shall be made at the rear panel of the interface unit. Installers shall allow adequate space at the rear for connection and disconnection of input, output, and power connections. The power requirements shall be 100 to 240 VAC, 50 to 60 Hz.
The interface unit shall be the MIDAS DL231 and no other alternative shall be acceptable.
