Design and Build: The Epiphone EONB4-CH Newport Bass in Cherry captures the essence of the early 1960s while integrating modern enhancements. Originally introduced in 1961, this bass maintains the classic design with a few key updates. The symmetrical double-cutaway body shape ensures excellent access to all frets, making it easier for players to reach every note. Its 30.5” scale length and Medium C neck profile provide comfort for various hand sizes, enhancing overall playability.
Pickups and Electronics: Equipped with a Bass Sidewinder neck pickup, the Newport Bass delivers rich, deep tones ideal for a wide range of musical styles. The TB PRO bridge pickup, in contrast, offers brighter and more articulate timbres. The combination of these pickups allows for versatile tonal options. Additionally, the bass features master volume and tone controls, along with a blend knob, enabling precise tonal adjustments to suit different musical needs.
Materials and Finish: The bass is crafted with a mahogany body and neck, providing durability and a resonant sound. The laurel fingerboard, adorned with pearloid dot inlays, adds to the instrument’s aesthetic appeal while ensuring smooth playability. The guitar’s Cherry finish not only enhances its visual appeal but also contributes to its classic look.
Hardware and Components: The Historic Bass Tune-O-Matic bridge and Historic Claw tailpiece maintain the vintage style while offering reliable performance. Die-cast tuning machines ensure tuning stability, and the dual-action truss rod allows for easy neck adjustments. The Newport Bass also includes a 3-ply pickguard, historic insert barrel control knobs, and a heavy-duty output jack for practical use.
