Who Is Ms Cosmo Today
Ms Cosmo is a club DJ, music producer, radio presenter, and podcaster. Her career began at YFM as a YTKO DJ in 2012. The following year, she joined 5FM as a radio presenter and became a Channel O Bassment DJ.
In 2018, she launched POPCast, drawing attention in the industry. Her move to Metro FM came in 2022. Currently, her focus is on DJing, music production, and supporting female talent. Women feature regularly in her shows, events, and music projects.
Early Influences and Musical Roots
Music has always played a central role in her life. Her father loved jazz and owned a club in Newtown, while her grandfather played the saxophone. Her mother sang in a choir, creating a rich musical environment.
She grew up immersed in artists like MC Lyte, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Ludacris, Notorious B.I.G, and DMX. During high school, she began building a mixtape collection, which expanded through university.
A key turning point occurred when Khuli Chana encouraged her to take DJ lessons. She trained at FUSE Academy by DJ Zinhle with DJ Zan-D and received support from DJ Dimplez. Her first club residency was with Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane in Rosebank, where a YFM manager recognized her talent.

Balancing a full-time banking job alongside her music career required working seven days a week. Her goal-oriented mindset allowed her to persevere.
